How We Work

An example of how Walsh HR operates

  1. Initial discussion and planning with the senior managers/leader of the organisation
  2. Obtaining an understanding of the desired outcome for the business (its Vision and Mission) and how it intends to achieve this (its business strategy)
  3. A diagnosis of the present state of the business in relation to the Vision, Mission and People Strategy. This may include:
    • Evaluation of the existing people strategies and policies
    • Evaluation of the people structure and processes within the business
    • Assessment of the culture and values of the business
    • Relationships across the business
    • Attitudes to leadership and management
    • Levels of engagement and morale
    • The operation of HR teams and the value they add to the business
    • Comparison between what the business says happens with what actually happens regarding people
  4. Preparation of interventions which aim to bring the reality within the business in line with the stated vision, mission and business strategy. These may involve the workforce, managers and leaders and would be tailored according to the organisation and the circumstances. They might include:
    • Full scale change plans dealing with changing the overall culture and the businesses people approach
    • Creation of revised or new people strategies to link in with the businesses goals and aims
    • Development of behaviour frameworks for managers and team members
    • Leadership and management development to encourage engagement within the workforce, including Servant Leadership option
    • Review and repositioning of HR teams to ensure they add real value to the business
    • HR Policies and process to deal with, for example Performance Management, Pay and Benefits, recruitment and selection, Employee relations, training and development, communication, consultation
    • Action to deal with specific issues or cases, involving for instance coaching or mediation
  5. If required we can provide input to rolling out these interventions and help to embed them within the business.
  6. Development of appropriate follow up, monitoring and evaluation of the proposed interventions.
